Reading vs Charlton(match review)

Reading is coming from a great victory earned away from home against Nottingham Forest with the score of 3:2. Guests entered the game too strongly and have preceded with a 2:0 score in first fifteen minutes. Home side responded well and equalized to 2:2, with the completion of a hour race.

Last word still belonged to the visitors from Reading as they sealed the victory with a goal in 74th minute, while the away side were playing with a man less since 81st minute. Coach Nigel Atkins was fully satisfied after the game, especially with how the game developed,  saying that he is fully satisfied with his team not panicking and managing to get a victory after a 2:2 equalize from Nottingham. Team is now in a good form, as they are undefeated in previous three matches, having two draws and a victory. They are playing even better at home, being still undefeated in front of it’s fans with four victories and four draws. However, they will have several players out for this game, as the hosts miss right back Gunter (13/0) who got red carded on Friday night. Left defender Bridge (10/0) and defensive midfielder Karacan (7/0) are definitely out, with midfielder Drenthe (7/0) being doubtful.

Chalrton, on the other side, is coming from a home narrow 1:0 defeat against Ipswich. Guests came too strong into the game and managed to get a 1:0 lead very early in the game. Meanwhile, both teams tried to score later on in an open game, but tries were in vain, while the final result remained 0:1 for the visiting side.

Coach Powell wasn’t satisfied after the game, saying that the team has to be much more effective in offensive part of the game. They are able to make chances, but scoring goals is something that cost them degrees in recent matches. It seems that players of Charlton can’t find a proper rhythm, as they suffered third defeat in previous four matches and tonight’s game against Reading will hardly end in a positive way for them as they have only one victory in fifteen away matches. Main goalkeeper Hamer is once again sidelined, while the spot between the posts will take Ben Alnwick for the third consecutive match. Beyond that, there are only long-term absences for the visiting side.

Reading comes into this game as a big favorite and they should get the victory easy or hard, disregarding their absences in the defensive lineup. Charlton have been rather poor in previous games and will hardly stay undefeated against such a strong home side.
