Brentford vs Crewe (match preview)

Posted by Unknown On 0 comments
Brentford wants to continue their rising on the league table as they meet Crewe today. They cout four consecutive wins at home, while Crewe looks quite weak when they play away from home. Brentford celebrated their fourth successive win in the league last weekend beating Crawley Town 1-0 at home. They had an early lead in scoring with a penalty and despite the pressure they suffered in the second half, they managed to keep the lead. Last week they had a very easy game against Staines Town for the cup and they won with the score of 5:0.

Their coach Uwe Rosler is continiusly gaining fans vote although before a month he was on their target due to negative results, but the consecutive positive results are going to his favor. Brentford sits now in 5th place, counting 4-1-2 in seven home games, and everything shows that they sloved their offensive problem as they score with ease. No problems for Brentford today, as main defender Harlee Dean is back after suspension.

Crewe continued with another bad result, as they could not win for another match, this time against a lower division team, Wycombe for the cup midweek (1:1), in an equal game with chances for goals from both sides. Their recent result to the league was a 0-0 draw at home against Bradford, where their goalkeeper Alan Martin was in a great day and kept the clean sheet. According to the match reports, Crewe got a point that did not deserved.

The only victories to their last twelve games was against Preston and Bristol City during October, and now they urgently need points to get a morale boost for the rest of the league. Crewe counts 1-1-5 in seven away games and their defensive behavior is the worst in the league as they accepted 31 goals in 15 games.Young striker Ryan Colclough and striker Mathias Pogba are both out for today’s game, the same goes on for defender Matt Tootle.

*Crewe have been losing at both half time and full time in 7 of their last 9 away matches in League 1.
*Brentford have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 3 home matches against Crewe in all competitions.

Brentford finally found a very good pace and they will lined up with excellent morale after four wins. Crewe is not stable at all in all levels and they are conceding more than two goals per game.

Colchester vs Swindon (match preview)

Posted by Unknown On 0 comments
Colchester lost 2-3 at home against Sheffield United for the FA Cup although temporarily had managed to equalize the score to 2-2 in the second half and although they were down 0-2 from the first twelve minutes of the game. After the initial very good start to the league with two out of two wins, to all next 15 games (13 in the league) they have won only once. However, they have the most draws in the league in more than half of the games.

Coach Joe Dunne admitted that in the last game his team in the first half was terrible but in the second half his players showed character, passion and determination. Colchester has too many problems with absences for today’s match. Defender David Wright (13 games), attacking midfielder Gavin Massey (10 games, 1 goal), striker Freddie Sears (12 games, 4 goals), striker Jabo Ibehre (14 games, 3 goals), attacking midfielder Sanchez Watt (5 games), defender Josh Thompson (1 game), midfielder Drey Wright (8 games), midfielder Connor Huble (1 game) and defender Luke Garbutt (10 games, 1 goal) are all out for various reasons.

Swindon was down 0-1 in the end of the first half against Wycombe for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, but equalized twelve minutes before the end and eventually won with the score of 2-1 with a goal in injury time. So they avoided a second consecutive exclusion from a lower league team. Away from their stadium they are weaker, as five of the six defeats in the league have come off.

Their coach Mark Cooper was delighted with the reaction shown by his players after the exclusion from the FA Cup, saying it showed that they care and are not unconscious. Even said that for a long time tried and played good football, but he had complaints from the way his team defends. Enough troubles with absence for Colchester too. Striker Ryan Mason (12 games, 4 goals), defender Alex Smith (5 games), defender Tijane Reis (3 games), attacking midfielder Miles Storey (6 games), defneder Troy Archibald-Henville, main keeper Wes Foderingham (19 games) and key defender Nathan Thompson (17 games, 1 goal) are all out with injuries.

Swindon is weak away from home and Colchester has to start collecting points. With both teams facing important problems in defense, this should be high scoring game.

Bet: Over 2.5 Goals @1.97

Macclesfield vs Dartford (match preview)

Posted by Unknown On 0 comments
Macclesfield managed to equalize in injury time, getting away with a point from a  home game against Kidderminster with the final 1:1 result. Hosts conceded in the middle of the first halftime, but still managed to stay undefeated, for seventh consecutive match right now, having five victories and only two draws.

Meanwhile, in last eleven matches they have only one defeat and eight victories in all competitions, with the good run of results saw them climbing up to the 15th position at the table, after a disastrous start in the season. Although they are still in the second part of the table, the team’s atmosphere is now much better, while they have gained safe distance from the relegation zone now. Coach John Askey was pleased after recent run of positive results, saying that the team has to stay focused in the same manner in next matches too even though he was very angry with the referee in second half of the game against Kidderminster and has eventually earned exclusion. Only problem for the home team remain injured defender Efe Sodje (6/0).

Dartford continued with their problematic performances away from home, as the team suffered yet another defeat on the road, this time to Woking 3:0. It was their third consecutive performance away from their fans and third consecutive defeat, as the team finds themselves in the relegation battle now.

Still, they are only couple of points away from safe zone and with a lot of time remaining, will have every chance to overturn the situation into their favor. Atmosphere in the club isn’t at the good level anymore, as many fans started criticizing players and coach, Tony Burman. Coach has said that it’s the easiest thing to retire from the position, but instead of it, he will try to pull something positive out of the next matches they have scheduled. However, with away 1-2-7 form and twenty one goal conceded out of these ten matches, it’s hard to see Dartford getting away with something on the road against any in-form side in Conference league. Injured is midfielder Bradbrook (15/3), while Noble (midfielder, 18/2) is suspended for this game.

*Macclesfield has three consecutive home wins, while Dartford lost previous three matches on the road.

During last few weeks, Macclesfield showed much better form and condition overall, while Dartford has huge problems playing on the road this season and everything but a home victory would be considered as a surprise.

Ukraine vs France(match preview)

Ukraine vs France is live streaming. Watch live at Bet365

Ukraine had no luck being drawn in a tough group together with England, Montenegro, Poland, Moldova and San Marino, but still managed to get through to the second position and are now drawn with France for the World Cup qualifying decider. They have started with only two points in first three rounds of the qualifying stage, but still managed to get the second position with a impressive 6-1-0 run.

Their only draw in last seven competitive matches was at home against England, while the side finished second with six points more than third placed Montenegro and only a point less than first placed English side. Anyhow, the team showed great skills in previous matches, especially when speaking about counter attacks, while they used the last competitive game against San Marino which they have won 8:0 on the road to boost their morale furthermore. Ukrainian coach Fomenko will once again count at defender Khacheridi and midfielder Stepanenko who are back into the team after serving their suspension, while the team has no major problems to deal with in front of the game. The team will rely mostly on their important wingers Konoplyanka and Yarmolenko, while the top of attack will be led by Zozulya.

Being in the same group together with Spain, it was really hard for France to make better result than second position. Having that in mind, their final position isn’t disappointing one and will now search for their World Cup position in a clash with Ukraine. The side took the second position comfortably with a 5-2-1 record and eight points more than third placed Finland.

Furthermore, they are coming from three consecutive victories and five matches without defeat. Prior to this run, they had played for 526 minutes without a goal scored (which is about 5.5 games) and the team surely feels revived after last three victories. Victories came against Belarus 4:2, Australia 6:0 in a friendly game and the last game they played was against Finland 3:0 at home. French side has no fresh injury concerns in front of this game, as coach Deschamps could name the same, unchanged squad that defeat Finland a month ago. Pogba and Matuidi will be set as defensive midfielders behind Valbuena, while striker Giroud should get the starting position leaving Benzema on the bench.

*France has never lost to Ukraine, having 4-3-0 record till now.

France is clear favorite to qualify in this clash and everything but their positive result from the first game would be huge surprise. Tight game is expected with little number of chances where French experience might prevail the game, although the draw can’t be excluded.

Portugal vs Sweden (match preview)

Portugal will face off Sweden in their World Cup play-off game, as the Portuguese squad failed to secure the first spot in a group together with Russia, Israel, Azerbaijan, N. Ireland and Luxembourg. They finished the group stage with a 6-3-1 record and only one point behind the Russians who took the first place and qualified directly for Brazil 2014.

Portuguese side lost in Russia, but also drawn twice to Israel, combined with a home draw against Northern Ireland, it was simply too much setbacks to finish the group as first. In the last game they played, they won over Luxembourg 3:0 at home in a game they played with a man more from 29th minute. Many players were rotated in that game, while the team will be morale boosted for this game, with the return of Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe who are returning back in the team after serving their suspensions. Home side lost only one out of last eight official matches they play and are coming into this game from a 3-2-0 home record in qualifying round, proving to be effective side lately with twenty goals scored in ten qualifying games. Home side coach Paulo Bento has no injury worries for this game and will field up the strongest side led by Nani, Postiga and Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.

Sweden had no luck in the qualifying draw as they were drawn in a group together with Germany and couldn’t do much more than securing the second position. Even so, the team secured their play-off ticket two rounds before the finish, with a 2:1 victory over Austria. Finally, they ended up second with eight points less than Germany that had only one draw in the group, in a 4:4 meeting at home against Swedish team.

Before their 3:5 defeat in the last round’s game at home against Germany, the team had five consecutive victories that made the second position possible, while they couldn’t resist to Germans in last round, especially being without their best player Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Head coach Hamren has said that Portugal are one level above Sweden and that they are huge favorites to qualify, but still added the matches will be decided on the details. Coming back from suspension, Ibrahimovic will lead his team once again, while the coach Hamren has no specific injury worries for this game with striker Hysen being out for this game, but wouldn’t be used anyway with Ibrahimovic in team.

*Portugal has never won against Sweden at home, counting 0-2-3 record.
*Portugal scored at least once in last twelve games, while Sweden did the same in previous eight.

Having in mind that both sides are doing much better in offensive part of the game than defensive, it’s hard to see any of these going into the game with defensive tactics. Both teams to score and over goals have the first choice here as everything except that would be a surprise in a game with such a offensive opponents.

Nancy vs Chateauroux (match preview)

Posted by Unknown On 0 comments
Nancy is coming from a narrow 1:0 victory earned over Nimes last Friday at their own home. The team was lucky to score the goal in second minute and keep the lead without much of the problems for the rest of the match, as the players of Nimes showed less than expected and failed to threatened against the defense of the home team that stood very well for the whole ninety minutes.

With this victory, Nancy now has three consecutive victories in Ligue 2, as the atmosphere in the locker room is improved a lot in last weekend. The players have started doing much better on the field, are showing big appetite in their matches and when it’s combined with positive results, then there is no doubt that everyone is expecting the team to promote this season. However, current situation isn’t fully satisfying yet, due to their poor start in the season, as the team is currently seventh at the table with five points less than second and third team, but with many matches to be played, there is no doubt that the team can correct mistakes and achieve first three positions. Home side will have two players absent for tonight’s game, as they will miss midfielder Joachim (no participation in the season) and goalkeeper Gregorini (5/0) who is out from the end of August and therefore, neither of the absences will be missed today actually.

Chateauroux showed one of the best performances this season last Friday as the team pulled out 3:0 victory over poor Clermont at home. Final results speaks all regarding the game, as the hosts showed determination to recover from poor results and get a victory in better manner than everyone expected, while the visitors looked more than clueless on the field.
Coach change was obviously very positive thing for Chateauroux, side that came off from the danger zone with this victory. However, their biggest problem remains playing on the road as the team earned only one point in six meetings till now and with only two goals scored on the road, it’s obvious that they won’t be able to count on decent number of points away from home. A lot of work is in front of them in order to stay in the league without problems, while they know that tonight’s game will be very hard for the team as they face up against one of the most in-form sides that surely has one of the most quality rosters. Visitors will be without midfielder Filkor (5/0) who is suspended for tonight’s game, while outside injured are midfielders Ramos (10/0) and Tait (9/0) and defender Afougou (6/0).

*Chateauroux have failed to win their last thirty away matches in Ligue 2.
*Nancy have won their last three matches in Ligue 2.
*Nancy are undefeated in their last eight home matches against Chateauroux.

Legia Warsaw vs Trabzonspor (match preview)

Posted by Unknown On 0 comments
4th day of the 10th group of Europa League. Legia is to the bottom of 10th group with three defeats in three games, without scoring yet. Undoubtedly for a team that lost participation in the groups of the Champions League, their position is very bad but they were unlucky to most of their games and they deserved to have two points at least.

In the Polish league Legia completed the first round at the top of the standings with three points ahead of Wisla and Gornik. They have six wins in seven games away from home but defensively they does not inspire much confidence. Now they are in a difficult position and they have absences due to injuries.

Main goalkeeper Dusan Kuciak, right back Lukasz Broz, midfielder Ivica Vrdoljak, midfielder Daniel Lukasik, attacking midfielder Miroslav Radovic, left winger Michal Zyro, striker Marek Saganowski, defender Marko Suler, defender Inaki Astiz, attacking midfielder Przemyslaw Mizgala and sub striker Michal Efir are all carrying injuries and most of them will not play.

Trabzonspor won 4-0 at home against Elazigspor for the Turkish Super Lig. They had a very good game against an opponent who played with massive defense, but Trabzonspor was able to score with ease and the score could go bigger. After three consecutive unsuccessful results in the league, Trabzonspor got a great result which brought them to sixth position in the league standings.

Their big problem was the goal and now seems that this is solved, while they traveled to Poland with high morale in order to win and seal the qualification to the next round of Europa League. According to their coach they will try to take control of the match from the first minute and they will play only for the win, so they are surely facing this game with lot of importance. No squad problems for Trabzonspor.

*Trabzonspor are undefeated in their last 11 matches in UEFA Europa League.
*Trabzonspor have scored at least 2 goals in their last 5 matches in UEFA Europa League.
*Legia Warszawa have failed to score in their last 3 matches in UEFA Europa League.

I think that Legia has to conform to the reality, and this is that they should forget European football for this season. Under this situation with many players out due to injuries, i think that Trabzonspor at least will not lose this game.

Standard Liege vs Salzburg (match preview)

Posted by Unknown On 0 comments
After six official games without a win, Standard won an away game against Gent on Sunday by 1-0. It was a well-deserved win as Standard controlled the game throughout the match and there could have been even more goals had M’Poku got the penalty in the 25th minute after the home keeper brought down Ezekiel in the penalty box. The match was decided by Batshuayi’s penetration and a great shot in the 54th minute. That was his 10th goal this season that put him in the third place of the league’s top scorers. Belgian national team coach Marc Walmots was on the stadium and the 20-year-old would really want to be called up for the national team and a possible place in the squad for Brazil 2014.

This win was very important for Standard’s players as it not only restored their shaky confidence but it put them back at the top where Genk were temporarily situated. While the “reds” have once again achieved a certain point difference in front of their rivals, their Europa League situation is anything but promising. Standard are the last team in group C with only 1 points in 3 games. If they don’t win today, they would probably have to say farewell to spending their winter in European competitions.

- Salzburg are, without any doubt, the best opponent we’ve faced this season – said coach Luzon at the press conference and emphasized that he wouldn’t make any changes about his team’s style:

- We won’t change anything. Our system is based on a 4-2-2 formation and it will stay that way. We consider playing with a lone striker or a offensive midfielder with a center forward a temporary system. It’s the overall vision that counts. I don’t have any particular plan to put the pressure on Salzburg.

Coach Luzon cannot count on center-back Kanu and midfielder Carcela, who got a red card in Salzburg (1-2). Left back and club captain Van Damme has injured his ankle and will not play today, like their striker Bie who’s scored in all three of his games so far, despite starting only one since Ezekiel and Mpoku are above him in the pecking order. We should highlight here that Kanu and Van Damme are experienced and reliable first-team defender and they can also be very dangerous up front, especially from the break. Luzon confirmed that Thuram will be between the sticks instead of Kawashima who’s been having minor injury problems.

To Speak of Salzburg this season means talking in superlatives only as Austrian football has never witnessed such domination that started last season and has stretched to 33 games without losing a game in the league. Salzburg will surely be the champions and they will certainly go through into the second phase of the Europa League, considering they have a 9 points in 3 games. One could say they dominated those games as well, perhaps not as in their domestic league, but enough to come to Liege at easy and unburdened by the result. Even a defeat wouldn’t put their ambitions into question, and they will be without their best forwards today.

Like in the game against Sturm in the league, their best striker Soriano is missing due to adductor problems that has been going on for some 20 days, while their in-form striker Mane has to serve his red card punishment from their first game against Standard. Adding some earlier absent players into consideration, coach Schmitdt will not have seven players in his combination but he is more worried by motivation that the players that go out onto the pitch. After so many wins and success, it is very hard to find motivation as was the case in a hard-won game against Sturm last Saturday, but one should also factor in the fatigue as Salzburg are currently pushing on 3 fronts.

- Our goal is to ensure we secure our spot in the knock-out stages today and a point today will do that, but we are aware we are facing a highly motivated hosts who are trying to catch the last train to stay in the game. We should also not forget that many saw Standard as the favorite of the group and their efficiency so far has been below expectations, even though they are a good team – explained the away coach Roger Schmidt who announced a more closed 4-2-3-1 formation with only one striker – the Brazilian Alan.

- In order to get what we want we have to run a lot and match Standard’s desire and get our chances. I believe we can do it as it would be really nice to start thinking about spring in Europe after this game – concluded Roger Schmidt, but one should also reiterate that a defeat here would not spoil their plans even though games like these are always harder on the team that have to win, and that is Standard.

The Belgian team have conceded a goal in all three games so far and they will want to take an early lead as they will grow nervous if the tied score persists and relaxed Salzburg will have more chances to punish the home team’s risky game from the counters.

So much praise for Salzburg and then bet against them? Many will call it illogical, but betting isn’t math and logic sometimes helps and sometimes doesn’t. Incidentally, I’ve seen all 3 Standard’s games in the Europa League. Those 3 games remind me of fishing when you seem to have gotten a big one and you get nothing. Standard attacked every time, created chances and the opposition scored in the end, leaving the Belgian league leaders regretting the missed opportunities.

Can Standard experience the fourth consecutive disastrous scenario, and quite an illogical one in terms of quality? We shall see tonight in Liege in which only a win will work for the home team, and any other result will mean they can say farewell to the Europa League if Esbjerg beat Elfsborg. In other words, the last chance for Standard, a huge imperative and a great pressure, but they face the opposition who are not in danger, having practically ensured their way through.

This potential casual approach by Salzburg and very realistic fatigue and absence of their best strikers Soriano and Mane still give the Belgian team a solid chance to finally convert their domination on the pitch, provided they achieve it this time. They didn’t do too well in Salzburg, but they still got a goal with a player less, and the home team were in full force and very much motivated then. The situation is much different today and the two teams are actually similar in term of quality. Standard are not complete as well, but the visitors are missing more important player, especially for converting the opportunities, and I believe the home team will dictate the pace of the game and the guests will wait for the counters. In a game like that, everything can happen and the level of energy will play its par, but I think motivation should be the most important aspect, and we should also take into consideration the logic that Salzburg’s run of undefeated games must come to an end. There are two options to bet on – the no draw bet, or Standard wins at half-time or the end of regular time.

Antalyaspor vs Kayseri-(match preview)

Posted by Unknown On Monday, 4 November 2013 0 comments
Antalyaspor drew 1-1 away from home against Kardermir last weekend. They stayed behind in the scoreline early in the game, but were also fortunate to equalize quickly, while the game didn’t have much of a pace later on and it was easy for both sides to keep the point earned as the game was approaching full time whistle.
It could be said that Antalyaspor is in a very good form at the moment, as the team has four victories and one draw in last five matches, even though their performance away to Kardemir wasn’t satisfying. However, it seems that the team has found pace and with a good streak recently made, they climbed up at the standings up to eleventh position and if they continue like that, they could even repeat last season which went great for the team. No doubt that the atmosphere in the locker room is much better now, while the team is surely searching for new victory as they are welcoming rock bottom placed team. Central defender Gungor is a bit iffy but should played tonight, while right back Arslan (4/1) continued to be sidelined with injury, same as midfielder Insa (5/0). Suspended is left back Sedef (9/0).

Kayserispor is coming from a 2:4 defeat at home against Galatasaray. Quickly at the start of the match they found themselves with two goals back in the scoreline, but didn’t give up and tied the score with two goals, however even that wasn’t enough to get away with points as the team conceded two more goals being under huge pressure from much more quality side.
Defeat against Galatasaray was their third straight defeat now and excluding Cup matches where they played with amateur sides, Kayserispor didn’t win 19th August when they defeated Sivasspor 1:0 at home. At the same time, that’s the only victory for them in the league so far, while the team continues being stuck at the rock bottom position with only five points earned. Coach Prosinecki has said that their motive is huge in front of this game and although the team started the season very badly, he is confident that the poor run will end very soon. Offensive players Nobre (5/1) and Jaja (5/3) are back into the team and will surely improve the offensive line of the visitors. Midfielder Biseswar (7/1) remains injured losing his third straight game.

* Antalyaspor have won their last seven home matches against Kayserispor.
*Kayserispor have lost their last three matches in Super Lig

Home side remains favorite in this game, but it seems that Kayseri is more than ready to reply now with much better performance. They have two important offensive players back and are in need of three points and can’t calculate a lot. It should bring quite a good tempo of the game with many chances on each side, while the value lies with over goals in this game.
